Founded in 2019, Nuz is the product of deep-rooted craftsmanship and a passion for precision. Its founder, Madison Baker, grew up immersed in the world of knife-making. In 1983, her father established Svord, a knife brand that would go on to become one of New Zealand’s most respected names in hunting and fishing blades.

Watching her father handcraft knives and build a beloved national brand gave Madison a lifelong appreciation for quality and detail. Though she initially took a different path, training as a mechanical engineer and working in the aviation industry, the pull of the family legacy proved strong.

Identifying a gap in the market between cheap, mass-produced kitchen knives and prohibitively expensive premium options, Madison saw an opportunity. Nuz was born from that vision: a brand dedicated to creating high-quality, thoughtfully designed kitchen knives that balance performance, beauty, and accessibility.
