A small Japanese onsen stool handcrafted from hinoki cypress, traditionally used in Japanese bathhouses to sit on while washing before entering the public baths.

Lightweight, durable, and naturally suited to wet environments, hinoki is prized for its moisture and bacteria-resistant properties, as well as its distinctive fresh fragrance, which is released when the timber becomes wet. The wood’s natural oils have also long been valued for their gentle, restorative qualities.

Use it as intended in the bathroom, or bring its simple, functional form into other spaces around the home. Particularly well suited to children’s rooms, where its low height makes it useful as a small seat or step.
