Made in Japan

A sizeable portion of the Everyday Needs product offering is sourced from artisanal Japanese makers. Craft (工芸 kōgei, engineered art) in Japan has a long tradition and history. The practices of craftpeople are passed down through the generations, many still using the same processes, techniques, and materials.

Some favourite crafts are ceramics, textiles, woodwork, bamboo weaving, glass, nambu tetsu (cast iron), and paper making from washi paper. We are constantly excited by finding new pieces from Japan to stock in the store.
