Isono Paper Balloons

Originated in Japan in the 1890s, Kami-fusen (Japanese paper blow-up balloons) have been a beloved part of childhood for generations. While the world has evolved, these delicate balloons endure. They can be used as decorations or as an interior accent.

Their particular style of hand-made paper balloon has been meticulously crafted since the 1920s by fishermen’s wives in northern Japan. Today, as one of the very last remaining makers keeping this heritage alive, they continue to adhere entirely to traditional, hand-made manufacturing methods.
