Artist Amy Van Luijk, creator of the beloved Lucky Luijk series, recently visited our Ponsonby store. Discover her new collection of gift wrap and greeting cards, and our hand-painted shop window inspired by her beautiful floral designs.
"For the EDN gift wrap designs, I created two individual artworks, each with their own distinct feeling. Experimenting with mark-making, I developed a scattered, playful floral design.
In contrast, the second design is more structured and grid-like, built from a repeated brush stroke. Both artworks celebrate and emphasise the irregularities and individual qualities of each brush mark."
"The window installation was an extension of the wrap design. By enlarging the floral motifs, I aimed to capture the same energy and character of the original brush marks while translating them to the window. Up close, the gestures feel abstract and textured but when clustered together, a floral composition emerges."
