Offcut Chopping Board
These chopping and serving boards are made from beautifully tactile Iroko timber and finished in an organic food safe oil. The wood pieces which make up the boards are all salvaged off-cuts from Everyday Needs director Katie Lockhart's interior design projects. This means all bits, even the odds and ends, are given life and a story, ensuring no wastage. The boards are impeccably hand crafted in New Zealand by talented local maker, Grant Bailey. Grant's pieces are all made in very small one-off batches, and are made from start to finish by Grant himself.
Please note as each piece varies in tone, each board looks quite unique. Your purchased board may look different than the product shot pictured. Additional images show boards in Grant's workshop. Limited production runs depending on available timbers.

These boards will last incredibly well, and as they are naturally oily dont even need to be oiled over time; simply kept well drained. Iroko is a large hardwood tree from the west coast of tropical Africa that can live up to 500 years. It is one of the woods sometimes referred to as African teak, although it is unrelated to the teak family. The wood colour is initially yellow but darkens to a richer reddish brown over time.
