Monmouth Glass Studio make exquisite glass objects. Their philosophy is based in the handmade for everyday use; to eat with or drink from, to light the spaces we live in. Every piece Monmouth make is hand shaped and finished using traditional glassblowing techniques that date back hundreds of years. Stephen and Isaac are fascinated by the intrinsically fluid properties of glass, which make it unlike any other material. The dedication required to even begin to master this medium has captured their attention and imagination for years. At Monmouth's Auckland studio a traditional furnace that holds 120 kilos of glass is kept molten at a temperature of 1110 degrees Celsius 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Every piece is gathered individually from the furnace then hand shaped and blown.
