Taranaki-based potter Janeen Page graduated from Elam School of Fine Arts in 1997 and since then has delved into the creative art form of pottery. With her work, Janeen has found that it bridges the world of creativity and functionality. It has resonated with her values and has allowed her to create a medium that is natural as well as sourced within Taranaki and New Zealand. The hand-thrown domestic stoneware that Janeen creates is the result of a 15-year study of the geology of the landscape around her, which has also allowed her to delve deeper into the alchemy of ceramic glazes. Sourced from north of Taranaki, the glazes are blended with the crumbling remnants of volcanic debris, ash and iron sands.
